Maintaining Ethical Behavior in the Financial Sector

The American economy has been in a tailspin since the crash of 2007-2008. This crash is accepted as the worst financial crisis. The worst as compared to the 1930’s and the Great Depression. It should be known that there had been rampant unethical behavior that had been exposed all throughout the financial sector. This includes the following:
* falsified records
* fraud
* underhanded dealings
This exposure had resulted in a loss of faith in Wall Street. A sense of unease and overall mistrust has spread among people across the country and the globe. Maintaining ethical behavior and upholding regulations is the role of the compliance officer in the financial sector.

The Feeling of Mistrust

It has been nine years and the overall feeling and sense of mistrust still lingers among people. Americans, in general just nave no faith in Wall Street nor the financial sector. There is a only a 28 percentage of Americans who hold the belief that the economy is on the right track. It is not predicted by economists and investors that the overall feeling of unease is going to improve. It is thought that this feeling of mistrust is only going to get worse.
